Guilty Gear Wiki

Wings of Light is Dizzy's boss-only attack in several iterations of Guilty Gear XX.

Overview[]

When performed, the background will turn dark and the screen will flash white for a split second before Dizzy crosses her arms uncomfortably, posing akin to the start of Gamma Ray, before clutching her head in bewilderment and to sitting on the floor, each accompanied by a flash of the screen; all these actions signifying Dizzy being possessed by something like Necro Unleashed or having a breakdown by patience. Further signaling the attack's activation, the Overdrive move activation sound effect will accompany each flash of the screen along with a bright blue aura of light in the form of a ring akin to the recovery action as Dizzy motions in place. If attacked during these transitions, Dizzy does not take any damage. At the end of the third transition, Dizzy will immediately become enveloped in a pillar of light and will turn white, while spreading out her wings and screaming out in anguish.

Depending on what the player has done during this after the third final transition:

  • If the player has repeatedly attacked Dizzy or is close to her, Dizzy will radiate powerful rays of light that shine throughout the arena, hitting the player no matter where they are on the screen. This attack will continue up to 80 beats or combo hits and deals massive damage to the point of defeating the opponent before all hits finish.
  • If the player is midway full screen distance, a pillar of light will rain down on the player. If not blocked, with or without Faultless Defense, the attack will deal severe damage.
  • If the player is 3/4ths or at the far edge of the screen, Dizzy will emanate a thin but rotating laser from herself that will span the screen at least three times. If not blocked, the attack is less severe than the more powerful forms of the attack but will deal significant damage if not defended against.

Details[]

This attack is only available to Dizzy if she is ever fought as a boss in Story Mode or as Gold Dizzy. The attack is much like Megalomania, where when used, demands the attention of the player to respect and maneuver or else. Unlike Megalomania, Wings of Light is more defensive, with Dizzy reacting depending on what the player does during her breakdown, is always relentless when executed as opposed to Megalomania's open dodge points and set execution damage if the move is not dodged, and should be treated more like a warning that can escalate to become an Instant Kill when unleashed and not dealt in the proper fashion.

Dizzy when performing Wings of Light should never be attacked. If attacked in anyway, Dizzy's AI will count this as "aggression", and will add to how powerful Wings of Light will be executed.

The "beam" version of Wings of Light is the most manageable, and should be properly timed to block when the laser inevitably reaches their position.

The "pillar of light" version of Wings of Light can be dodged, but this requires pinpoint timing. The player should have backed off during Dizzy's breakdown, but blocking by far is still the best option if next to none.

The "true" or "radiance" version of Wings of Light is the worst case scenario, and should be treated as if Dizzy has won by Instant Kill.

Trivia[]

  • The attack is likely inspired by the Guilty Gear X anime teaser, where Dizzy unleashes a mysterious power while enveloped in light during a dogfight against the International Police Force and the Jellyfish Pirates.
  • The name of Wings of Light is given entirely from the fanbase and is not official, as the attack has of this date has not been yet acknowledged or termed in official materials.
  • It is implied Wings of Light is the attack that kills I-No in her second path in Guilty Gear XX's Story Mode.
