Mr. Dolphin is one of May's Special Attacks, first appearing in the original Guilty Gear and has been a staple part of her moveset ever since.
Overview[]
In the original Guilty Gear, May spins her anchor around, launching a blue dolphin in an arc.
In Guilty Gear X and beyond, Mr. Dolphin got an overhaul and has 2 main variations:
- The Horizontal (横, Yoko?) version has May hops on the back of a dolphin, which flies towards the opponent.
- The Vertical (縦, Tate?) version has May travel in an arc with the dolphin, striking overhead.

Split
In the Guilty Gear XX series, May can use Go (頑張って, Ganbatte?, lit. Keep it up), by putting the stick back to neutral, then pressing (Horizontal) or
(Vertical) before the dolphin connects, hopping off it and letting it continue travelling; this would be re-dubbed as Split in -Strive-, simply by pressing
during Mr. Dolphin. Also in -Strive-, May can use Break by pressing
, actively stopping her travelling.

Hop on Dolphin
As well as the main Mr. Dolphin attack, May would go on to gain another move that incorporates her dolphin companion in the form of Applause for the Victim, having it jump through a hoop in order to do a modified Vertical Mr. Dolphin. In the Xrd series, May can hop onto the dolphin while it's travelling by jumping up by the hoop.
