"Keep Yourself Alive" is Sol Badguy's classic theme. Composed by Daisuke Ishiwatari, it first appeared in Guilty Gear.

It was revised into a new version for all versions of Guilty Gear X and Guilty Gear XX called "Keep Yourself Alive II". One last revision was made by Ishiwatari, which is called "Keep Yourself Alive III", that is Sol's Dominance theme in Guilty Gear 2 -Overture-.

It has received two vocal arrangements.

The signature song of Sol Badguy, the series' core lead character and far removed man of the modern past into a future he never made, Keep Yourself Alive is a rumbling and rambunctious establishing song that sings of the world turned upside down of Guilty Gear. While Queen's Keep Yourself Alive is a triumphant song of buildups and talks of overcoming all odds, Guilty Gear's version of the song shreds of standing up face to face against the unknown, daring to be badass, and rebelling against a world that seems to want its inhabitants nothing more but dead. With verses strumming the lead guitar to make chords sing on their own, beat lead quiet buildups, and wild solos based upon intuition and the freedom to jam out, Keep Yourself Alive and its succeessors just may be the song that carries the soul of the series through its sounds.

Trivia[]

  • The track is named after Queen's song of the same name, "Keep Yourself Alive", written by guitarist Brian May. It is the opening track on the band's eponymous debut album (1973).
  • In the XX version at 52 seconds in, a riff used in the theme is similar to Feedback, the prior opening theme of the XX games before Λ Core.
